Our new dean at the McCombs School of Business led a panel discussion on the market meltdown. I took graphic notes (see above). Then we posted my rendering at McCombs TODAY, the news blog I just helped start. Then I got to give the dean my comic and he called me a “smart ass!” I was proud and delighted on so many levels!!!
Here’s a little ditty I wrote on a Sunday morning walk from the pool (which was closed). As I walked back thinking about the upcoming election, I passed a squirrel and it triggered this song.
Be A Bigger Animal
you’re walking along
you see a squirrel
chewin on a nut
right by your path
keep your head up
don’t be afraid
leave him alone
you might say hi
be the bigger animal
act like a bigger animal
remember Steve
taught us to say
ain’t she a beaut!
even that stingray
not knowing who
this champion was
he loved her too but
she took him from us
be the bigger animal
act like a bigger animal
if you lack confidence
remember dogs
sniffin’ away
they’re not afraid
of how they feel
they go right up
and say how are you
in their own way
be the bigger animal
act like a bigger animal
if you find yourself
shooting at wolves
from a helicopter
it’s time to ask
is this a sport?
or is this dumb
why do i kill
like this for fun?
Obama is
the man of this time
because he realizes
in order for us to survive
we’ve got to get beyond
an America
that can’t focus upon
our future good
The closing scene of the celebration
placed them above the recent Games
the Committee and a few guests for Oyster

however, the steamer volunteered
When the party was safely landed,
the Committee marched home whistling
I am an institution and are all

bear and deer antlers and skin
I want to say one word you feel is
the literal truth, the history
the biggest feat that has ever been
Now that we are here we must not forget
how proud we are of the straight shooting.
and the yell that went up
worked through the crowd

Well, we’ve won and the less talking we do the better.
