The Audible Picture Show

This evening, P, Lib, Maile, and I went to the Alamo Drafthouse to “see” the Audible Picture Show. A young Glasgow guy, named Matt Hulse, collects audio pieces under 5 minutes to be shown in “a dark theatre,” and takes them to dark theatres around the world. It was a great experience for a number of reasons. Many of the pieces were very well done and entertaining. The act of listening to an audio piece seems to be both more relaxing and suggestive than watching a film. My favorites were the found audio pieces like the tape which is a random collage, mostly of an older British couple trying to get the tape recorder to record, not knowing it is on. I loved the story about the blind dog that still loved to catch the frisbee and who jumps for, and gets, the microphone, when the interview cuts in to the frisbee throwing. Matt had a nice, sparse remix of Judy Garland singing a few different lines, out of order, from the Wizard of Oz. Check out the Audible Picture Show website for clips of all of the pieces in the collection. I’m going to the thriftshop to hunt for cassette tapes.

New Flickr Pics

I put up a bunch of new photos, like this one, of a painting I saw. It’s grafitti style of grafitti, on canvas. In addition to putting up a lot of photos and starting some sets, I made a lot of the not-so-spectacular pics private, so that you won’t have to wade through all the pics of my dog.

Big Pics

I just love how easy flickr makes posting big photos. Here’s one I took back in DC as I was crossing the a foggy briges late at night. I turned around and zoomed in through the back window and got this picture of the tire on the back of the car with the earie bridge lights behind it.

Site Development Strategy

I’m sorry to have let up on the interesting postings as of late, but I am still quite obsessed with getting this new blog format under my thumb. Here is the picture I took of myself while driving, that I used for the little Flash fader tool to the right.

My stategy is to get this blog sloggin along and working well in time for a new years anouncement. I’m also very excited to have begun uploading and tagging all my photos with Flickr, so I hope to be rolling out the galleries soon as well.

My First Pic

My first pic, a self-portrait in a car windowCould it be true? After a day or three of waiting to switch over to my wordpress setup, I got the plugins to work and can post audio and a photo. Now all I need is to have this much text beside each photo. If it weren’t here, all the formating would be screwed up. Even though this is a pretty small picture, it takes more text than I often post. I guess I’m heavier on the images and sounds than the text, which is why this seems more and more like a wordpress.
